Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities Seeks Public Input on 2027–2031 State Plan
Montgomery, AL (April 6, 2026) — The Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities (ACDD) is seeking public input on its draft 2027–2031 Five-Year State Plan.
The plan outlines the Council’s priorities to address the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families across Alabama. Because resources are limited, the plan focuses on key areas where the Council can have the greatest impact.
A 45-day public comment period is now open and will run through May 13, 2026. Key Priority Areas
The draft plan focuses on four main areas:
- Community Engagement: Increasing opportunities for people with I/DD to participate fully in community life
- Employment: Expanding access to job training, supports, and competitive, integrated employment
- Education and Early Intervention: Improving access to services and strengthening support systems in schools and early childhood programs
- Advocacy: Building skills and resources to help individuals and families advocate for their rights and reduce abuse and neglect
