The Alabama-Korean Economic Exchange Program is hosting the Bridge of Unity in Diversity (BUD) Advocacy club to train high school students without disabilities about persons with developmental disabilities. The club is offered at 8 Montgomery area high schools and provides overview of common characteristics of developmental disabilities and provides for participation and service hours at events of local disability agencies. This project’s goal is to create empathy and decrease stigma for people with disabilities during youth for more positive future culture. Also, A-KEEP is collaborating with ACDD to provide a Korean Access Hotline for families with developmental disabilities to locate resources and obtain translation assistance.
