Disability as an Ability Toward Success: Moms on the Move (DATSMOM) is a grassroots initiative with a focus on advocacy and leadership training for minority parents of children with developmental disabilities in rural areas of Alabama. Parents receive training that focuses on best practices to obtain full access and maximize educational and service delivery plans. Studying this information improves parent self-determination, self-confidence and skill development in order to effectively advocate for better inclusion and expansion of resources and support opportunities for their child.
